M$ XP Woes
Does M$-Windows XP actually work for anybody except Microsoft? We finally admitted it onto one machine here and it has been less stable than the M$-Windows 95 it replaced. XP and M$-Word give "error report" dialogs daily; Netscape and Games run for hours, so we know it's not hardware-related. And yes, our virus protection and our "Windows update" and "Office Update" are up-to-date.
Speaking of which, the article on Reliable Computing in the June 2003 Scientific American prompted the quip "Isn't reliable computing an oxymoron?" My sister-in-law then retorted: "Does that make Bill Gates the ox or the moron"? :-)
